Warranty: “…usually written guarantee of the integrity of a product and of the maker's responsibility for the repair or replacement of defective parts.” Merriam-Webster

What does this mean for you? Most of the electronic items we sell (ie: CD player, speakers, amps, mixers, microphones) have a warranty. Depending on the manufacturer, and type of equipment, the warranty will vary. If you have a piece of equipment that stops working properly, it’s very possible that the repair will be taken care of at “no charge.”

How does the warranty work?   A common misconception is that the warranty entitles you to a free advanced replacement.   (I wish! I would be drivin’ around in a much better-looking car!) In fact, the manufacturer requires you to send the item in for evaluation. The warranty will cover the repair and the return shipping to you. If they cannot repair it, they will replace it. Repair is always tried first! So… in a nutshell: You pack it up and ship it in, they evaluate, repair, and then they ship it back to you. This process can take 2 weeks or more.

What is NOT covered by warranty? The warranty ensures the item to be free from factory defects. If it is dropped and run over by your car…. Probably not warranty. Excessive sweat, torn wires, microphones that are broken in half, microphone booms hanging by a single bare wire, CD players with water spilled in them, speakers blown off the wall…. Not warranty.

Still not sure? Give us a call! We can help you determine if you qualify for a warranty repair! 1-800-445-7398

I have a [microphone] that needs repair... what do I need to do? "This is a question we hear almost daily! First let me say that taking your time when packing equipment for service, could be the difference between a warranty repair and a non-warranty repair. Damaged equipment due to insufficient packing, is not covered by the shipping company, nor is it considered a warranty repair. We see boxes almost daily that could have used some packing help! Here are a few tips to help you pack up your item for service.

So how do you pack up a box with equipment needing repair? Find an appropriately sized box. (A padded envelope is insufficient for fragile items such as headset mics.) The box should allow two or three inches of packing materials to surround your mic or beltpack transmitter. Never ship your items without plenty of packing materials to keep them from "bouncing" inside the box.

What makes good packing material that you have lying around? Newspapers or paper towels work great! You could also use an old gym towel (clean please! I don't want my team passing out when they open your box!). Any material that you can form around the item you are shipping will work!

What else do you need in the box? It is very helpful to have a brief note (not a college term paper) inside the box. The note should tell us: 1 – the RA number. (Call us before you ship the box to get your Return Authorization number.) 2 – contact person in case we need to call you for more information, 3 – contact phone number or email address, 4 – description of the problem you are experiencing. Still have questions? Give us a call at 1-800-445-7398. We are in the office Mon-Fri from 9-5 EST.

Supreme Audio is feeling mischievous! Yup! I'm lookin' for some interaction!

How many headset mics do you see? Please email your answer! This is a common site in our service department... how much money do you think this pile is worth? Taking your time when packing equipment for service could be the difference between a warranty repair and a non-warranty repair. Damaged equipment, if due to insufficient packing, is not covered by the shipping company, nor is it considered a warranty repair. The bottom line? Take your time.... and save money!

Flu season is here!
Did you know...The foam windscreen on your headset mic holds moisture… which can contain bacteria and viruses like the flu? Sharing the same windscreen with your co-workers is like kissing an alligator – not a good idea! You could, unknowingly, infect your coworkers by not changing the windscreen after you teach a class! The flu is often spread by people that are contagious before they even know they are sick! The best-case scenario? Each instructor should have their very own windscreen!

Did you know… …that size really does matter? In batteries that is! Battery sizes can vary from brand to brand and this will affect the battery terminals inside your beltpack transmitter. Over time this will cause a bad connection and can lead to intermittent audio. So…. the easy solution? Choose a brand and stick with it. Buying batteries that are “on sale,” might cost you more than you save!

Did you know…

…there are tiny copper wires inside the headset cable that can break after repeated wrapping and twisting around the headset frame? As the wires break down, you’ll begin to hear that annoying crackling sound – and then one day… no sound. So, take a few moments to set your headset aside in a safe place without twisting the cable, maybe even hang it from a hook on the wall. By naking care of the cable, you'll find the headset will last much longer, saving you time and money!
